Jane’s Artistic Journey

Jane has been creating art for as long as she can remember. From the time she was five, drawing and painting became her world — a space where she could express herself freely. At just twelve years old, she sold her first painting, a moment that showed her art could touch others as deeply as it moved her.

When Jane moved to Australia in 1976, she discovered the bright, expressive works of Ken Done. His ability to bring art into everyday life — turning paintings into pieces people could wear and use — lit a spark in her. She dreamed of doing the same one day.

Years later, Jane learned she is autistic — a realisation that made sense of the way she could spend hours lost in her art. Creating has always been her calm, her focus, her happy place. Colour is her voice, and every piece she paints bursts with energy, emotion, and the joy of self-expression.

Six years ago, Jane turned her passion into a microenterprise. It hasn’t been an easy road, but persistence and love for her craft have kept her going. Today, more and more people are discovering and falling in love with her unique artwork. Recently, Jane began collaborating with an incredible company in the USA that produces 100% sustainable shirts made from organic cotton and coconut buttons. Each shirt becomes a canvas for her vibrant designs — wearable art that is as unique as she is.

Jane is now the only artist in Australia offering these one-of-a-kind sustainable art shirts. Her hope is simple: that people will feel the same happiness wearing her art as she feels creating it — a little colour, joy, and individuality in every piece.
